I have two questions:
first if we dont do wintersession at Wellesley when do we have to be back on campus,, what date? im going home during the winter and need to know when to get back for my plane ticket!

two: are there any study abroad programs available for first year students during wintersession??

For the upcoming 2008-2009 school year, the first day of classes after winter break (ie, the first day of Spring Semester) is Monday, February 2nd. So I would show up a day or two before that :).

There are some study abroad programs over wintersession, but they tend to be tied to languages or other special programs, so I wouldn't necessarily bank on finding something that appeals to you. But I'm not the super-expert on study abroad and we have a whole department dedicated to helping students with such matters, so you could always go there and make your inquiries.

Most of the Wintersession options are handled their respective departments. I know the India deadline has already passed.

Students are permitted to return the Saturday before the first day of classes usually at 9 am. (I hope I stopped at least five future community threads- please oh please).

However... last year they canned the $100 wintersession fee- as far as I know this still may be the case. So if you don't mind fast food for a day and Thursday or Friday gets you cheaper plane tickets- go for it!

Good information thank Wendymouse but does this mean that incomings have no opportunity due to past deadlines to consider winter abroad options. Can you give some examples of opportunities in India through the department?

On winter abroadesh option: Choir is going on an international tour for ten days during wintersession! Latest news is Italy, but it's not set in stone.

tennis, the trip to India is through the Peace & Justice department, so you'd need to have some background in the department to qualify for the trip. I looked at the e-flyer just now and it says that the prerequisite is Peace & Justice 104 and two 200 level P & J classes completed before Wintersession 2009 (this upcoming one). The deadline actually hasn't passed, but clearly you would need to have been taking P & J classes at Wellesley to qualify for the trip, so it's a moot point.

tennis08. Essentially, the wintersession trip courses are classes. Every year's trip courses are posted here: Untitled Document The regular wintersession courses come up along with the spring semester courses.
