Study abroad sophomore year

I'm wondering if its at all possible for sophomores at SCU to travel abroad spring semester sophomore year.

Yes, but you must meet the eligibility requirements.

it may not be possible. I heard yesterday at Admitted Students Day, that students go abroad 1st quarter/Fall Junior year. In thinking about it later, I am guessing that because it is a quarter system, you cannot go abroad in the spring, because then you miss 2 quarters. Many abroad programs are based on the semester system, so even if all the credits transfer, you would still be behind, because you miss 2 quarters. the timing is just very different in the spring.

but, I could very well be wrong. You should call the Study Abroad office, or email them, and ask. Many moons ago, I went abroad my Sophomore year, for 2 semesters, and it was great going early because I took all my core/general ed classes abroad, and then had time Jr and Sr year to work on my major classes back at school.

Good point, I hadn’t even thought of that. If you’re determined, and come in with enough AP credits, or overload as a freshman, it is possible to go abroad as a sophomore in the fall at least. I wouldn’t recommend it, however.
