D is a second year at UVA and is considering applying for a study abroad program this summer in Europe. Have any of you participated in abroad programs through UVA (or had children who have participated)? If so, was the experience positive? Is there anything you wished you would have been told beforehand? The one she's contemplating lasts approximately six weeks, payment is made directly to UVA, and she'll be given four hours of credit. Housing is provided in the university dormitory, and she's thinking this particular program might help in her graduate school application. Your thoughts?

Ideally, the schedule would be set up to have some free time to travel. A weekend at a time may not be sufficient to see other countries.

I don’t know if it was still true, but it used to be set up years ago that the best Eurorail pass deal was only available if the purchase occurred in the US. You couldn’t buy it once you got to Europe.

A lot of my students have gone through UVA’s summer program in London at Regent’s College. They love it and seem to learn a lot.
