Study for ACT or SAT?

I recently took the SAT and got a 1810 (620 CR, 670 Math, and 520 Writing) and took an ACT practice test at home and got a 26/27 composite score (26 English, 26 Reading, 25 Science and 30 Math). When I looked at a SAT/ACT score comparison chart, it seems that the scores are fairly similar. I'm not which test is easier to raise my score on and I didn't do much prep for either test. Which one do you think is easier to improve on and which one should I focus on prepping for?

It looks like math is your strong point right now. Although it’s very interesting that your ACT English score is much more comparative to your ACT reading score than your SAT writing is to your SAT reading score. Did you go back over those questions you missed and analyze why you missed them? From what I recall of ACT/SAT, the english and writing sections were similar in the concepts tested…

If SAT vocabulary is tripping you up, I would say focus on ACT because there’s no vocabulary section on that exam. Aside from the science section, the ACT’s reading/english/math sections were somewhat easier/less tricky than their SAT counterparts. HOWEVER, the timing is a lot more strict. This is purely from my own experience, so if you think you’re able to confidently complete the ACT on time, I would definitely study that and shoot for the best score.

I agree with bloog re the timing. You have to really keep moving along on the ACT. If you have no problem finishing the seperate sections, the ACT might be for you. ACT tends to be pretty good for students who learn and remember the school curriculum pretty well. The SAT is for students who have done a lot of reading over the past 5 years, are good in math and logic. Best of luck.
