Study place help PLEASE!

Anyone know a good place to study that's got a Barnes and Noblesy feel? I don't like libraries cause they're too quiet and I thought I'd enjoy the cafes-- strada, milano, etc --but they're too chaotic. At home I used to study in the cafe at my Barnes and Nobles, but the one down on Shattuck doesn't have a cafe. Anyone know of such a place? Quiet but not too quiet? Not too crazy? I'm desperate-- cabin fever is killllling me!

There is the FSM cafe at the entrance to Moffitt Library but it can be chaotic inside. Try seating outside, it's not as bad.

If you want a Barnes & Noble cafe, there is one at El Cerrito Center. Take the BART to El Cerrito Center and walk towards Ross and walk across the parking lot you'll find B&N.

If you want to explore further, there's a very nice Borders cafe in Union Square in the City. Take the BART, get off at Powell and walk North towards Women's Macy's. Can't miss Borders.

For calmer cafes around campus, try Euclid Ave on Northside.

There's a Barnes and Noble on Shattuck and Durant, I think, but IMO it's not an ideal place to study.
The BN greatestyen is talking about is off next to the El Cerrito Plaza station. The EC one is far better--there's a Starbucks inside the store, and tables along with it.

Oh, for cafes, I'd also recommend Au Coquelet Cafe, on University and Milvia. They have lots of tables in the back, and it's relatively quiet, as long as you don't come in during busy hours.

Thanks guys, these suggestions are awesome. I'm going to try them out this summer.

How are the lounges in the Units?

^---- loud. Always.

you know, ur in a tough bind. I think your best chance, (unless your willing to travel far away) is to try and adapt the best you can. You may have to go to the dead-quiet library, or the very noisy lounges. Frankly, i think ur best option is to study on the grass, outide, in the sun or shade. It is quiet enough to get work done, yet enough traffic noise to keep u from feeling lonely

Hmm, that's actually something I never even thought of. Too bad my classes are so damn long that I don't get to enjoy much sun.

And for those of you who care, I'm writing this as I'm sitting outside Strada. It's actually pretty nice today. I'm even getting used to this weird pee smell from the bush behind me as I'm waiting for a seat to open up inside. Not too shabby when it's not chaotic.
