Cool places to study?

I am taking some classes through the extension and would like to know where the good places to study are. I went to the "undergrad library" and it was pretty bad. It's not their "main" library, is it?

The Starbucks on Weyburn is not bad but it's pretty crowded a lot of times. Are there other coffee houses good for studying? Has anyone been to the school of management library?

Are you talking about Powell Library? (first paragraph)

Powell is pretty bad?

ummmm.

I don't really know in which universe Powell would be considered a disappointment to have as one's main library, especially for studying.

Upstairs lounge in Kerckhoff, or Charles E. Young Research Library

Kerckhoff is always, always a million degrees. It makes me crazy. Also fairly loud.

I'd say YRL.

your room, with earplugs and/or headphones.

If you want a big conference table to yourself, the Southern Regional Library is best. It's only open M-F, 1-5 PM though.

go ahead

tell the

WHOLE WORLD

thanks a lot.

Hey, it's on the De Neve posterboard! Everyone knows about it (sort of)

I'd say...spread the joy! XD

I like how students try to be sophisticated and upbeat by bringing their textbooks into Starbucks but act like philistines who skim 10 pages before finishing their latte and leaving.

lol..I wish most people skimed just 10 pages before leaving cos I often find myself waiting.

Emmeline,
I just looked up the campus map again and yes, that's the one I was referring to. I guess "bad" was too strong of a word; I didn't even know if I walked through the entire thing. It just looked kinda old. There's no front desk/map after the entrance and it was pretty confusing to me.

Thanks everyone. I think I have better idea now.

Starbucks is so overrated as a study place. I don't understand how people can read at such raucous environment.

^

That used to be my all-time favorite study spot.
I can manage to block out all of the noises in my environment.

Yea, if complete silence is what you want, the Southern Regional Library basically takes the cake. I mean first all, it's barely a real library, you basically have to special request something to get a book from there. Not many people really know where it is either, or have really been there.

YRL is a nice place to study too, and if you're a South Campuser the Engineering libraries have been pretty good to me as well.

lol I had no idea where powells book stacks were till summer after first year.....haha ...once I actually went through it though I realized it has alot of great places to study...if you dont like the reading room the bottom floor has a bunch of desks among the bookstacks..and its pretty quiet :)

Yeah. But I looooooove the reading room.

love. it.

powell second floor is very quiet and comfy...... i like their couches a lot and the one and only time i was there a lot of people were napping, which also shows how quiet it really is.... or you can try the arts library by public policy building, there is rarely anybody there......

i love studying at the bombshelter for their greasy food
