Study with REA and use Kaplan as practice for U.S. History?

Hey guys, even though I've been lurking around the boards for a while now this will be my first post on CC. I was wondering, do you guys think that it would be adequate for me to read the REA AP United States History book to study and then use the Kaplan practice tests as warm-ups for the real U.S. History SAT II?

As most other people here, I am looking to get an 800 as I got a 5 on my AP US. I have read that the AMSCOE is better and am willing to go out and buy any other books if necessary.

Edit: Taking the test in October.

Anyone have any suggestions?
