Studying abroad 3 consecutive semesters (4 times in total)

summer 2012 im studying abroad for 4 weeks in paris and for the 2013/2014 i plan to study abroad in peru that fall and either senegal or morocco that spring. I also want to add a summer 2014 study abroad to either egypt or yemen.

Do you think this is too much? I'm doing all of this for language acquisition. For Arabic, I'm learning a dialect which is way easier than MSA so spending only a summer there doesn't seem so ridiculous.

Also, which country is better for learning french: morocco or senegal?

paris-summer 2012
peru-fall semester 2013 (sept-dec)
egypt-spring 2014 (jan-may)
senegal-summer 2014 (may/june-july)

I did it (Spain, Germany, Italy). You’ll have an incredible experience.

To immerse yourself in a foreign culture…and then another…and then another is an incredibly enriching experience. I can’t even begin to describe it – but those of us who have done it know what it’s like and we know what the benefits are. It’s study abroad x100.

Paris and Peru will be easiest. Paris can be pricey.

Morocco or Senegal…entirely up to you. In both cases, you will be learning a slightly less “standard” French. If your goal is language acquisition you might want to stick it out in one place longer term.

Arabic is a whole other ballgame. Any time you spend in a country, especially if you are doing immersion courses, is totally worth it, totally valuable – but Arabic requires a greater time investment if you really want to get it under your belt.

In any case, you are lucky that you are focusing on languages – there are language schools in all the countries you mentioned and some of them are awesome bargains price-wise…and their effective! I know…I did it.

Is it too much? It’s ambitious. But it’s not too much.
