I'm currently learning Spanish and French and am definitely going to study abroad for a second time in a spanish-speaking country for a semester in the future. So for the summer should I study abroad in a spanish-speaking country twice, or should I take the opportunity to study abroad in one of the others. If so, which one?

I’ve been to Egypt. It’s a cool place to visit… but I honestly wouldn’t want to spend months and months living in that environment. It’s definitely culture shock.

I personally would say study abroad in France, just because that’s what I would do. I’m a bit biased though as a French major. xD But if you study in France or Britain even, you would easily have the option of visiting other countries while you’re there, including Spain, so that should definitely be a consideration.

Peru out of those. Definitely. Especially right now you don’t want to be in Mexico or Egypt- it’s just too risky to be an American there given the turmoil. I vote against England because I like to study abroad for language. France just does nothing for me, but if you want to learn French and Spanish then you should probably do a France and Spanish speaking country. I still vote for Peru though :)

I’d say wait on Mexico (really dangerous), and probably pass on Egypt until things settle down in a few years. England and France are so typical, so I’d go with Peru.

I’m asking genuinely as an ignorant American. I have never heard that they weren’t interchangeable and I’ve know a good bit of people from England.

^ England is the actual country of England and Britain/Great Britain is the island that includes England, Scotland, and Wales. They’re not technically interchangeable but it’s really not a big deal especially since we call people from England “British” (since that is what it says on official forms, or at least it did when I lived in England ~15 years ago).

I do wonder if the OP meant all of Great Britain or just England. Either way, I still vote for Peru lol.

It depends what you’re looking for; I personally wouldn’t recommend England (not that I have much experience with study abroad yet, as a disclaimer) because you’re really not going to be exposed to things that are that much different than you’re used to. I think spending more time in a Spanish-speaking country would be a great idea since you could improve your language skills even more, but it could also be cool to spend time somewhere else. Since you don’t seem to have a preference when it comes to areas, why don’t you start looking into programs in all these areas and see which particular programs stand out to you as interesting?

France or England. As others have said Mexico and Egypt are dangerous right now, though you should definitely try to go to Egypt one day if you can. If you really wanna experience something new then France would be the place to go. I’ve been to London and while its a nice change its not SO far off from America that you’ll be shocked.
