Studying Abroad?

I'm going to Japan, Spain, Italy, or Brazil my second year for a semester.

Japan and Spain would be easier choices since I'm already fluent in both languages, but Italy and Brazil seem so appealing. Those two countries--to me--connote an exotic experience and I won't be so lost becuase I already know quite a bit of Italian and just some Portugese.

Is anyone else considering any of those countries?

I would love to go to Brazil and Spain. I did a project in 9th grade about Brazil and I fell in love with that country ever since. Spain is just beautiful.

:O!

Consider going with me, then, Krishna! Also, if I go to Brazil, a lot of my family will be right next to us in Peru. I can get free aid! :D

That would be so much fun Kenny! Especially since I forgot a lot of Spanish, you can translate when we go to Spain :)

Thats so awesome! Have you ever been to Peru?

I used to go to Peru just about every year over the summer, but the last few years, I've had a summer job, so I couldn't. I would love to start going there again without any parental supervision and just explore everything on my own. Taxis there are the #1 form of transportation and usually, you can get a ride for 10 miles for a dollars-worth of Soles, so getting from place to place is easy.

The only bad thing about Peru is that crime rate is up again :{

Yeah, its so much fun to go to a foreign country and just explore. It'll be such an amazing experience. Is the crime rate high in all the areas or just specific places?

I really want to go to India by myself and travel all around without my parents. Everytime we go to India, I end up not seeing a lot because we have so many relatives that we have to go visit all of them and it takes up most of our time. There are so many historical and beautiful places so hopefully I can go while I'm in college.

There are so many countries I want to go to!

@ Kenneth: Thanks. Yeah i figure i'd really only go exploring Shanghai on the weekends anyway. And yeah im not a huge partier at all. I think it sounds like a great experience. The curriculum on Globalization and IR looks really interesting. Though first, i have to learn Chinese, haha.

Italy is currently number one on the list of countries I plan on studying in. It's really the perfect place for me, it fits everything I like.

And it's followed up by Spain, France, Croatia, Brazil, the U.K., Thailand, Costa Rica and Japan and everywhere else. I'm an international studies major, I have to travel everywhere.

stupidfambaloo- Croatia!!! I'm 2nd generation Croatian-American!

But anyway, I know that Northwestern has a summer program to Croatia and any college student may apply...

I'm definitely looking into it....

Zao mi je, ne govorim hrvatski....but thank god UCSD has an independent Croatian language study program! I'm FOR SURE doing it

Is anyone planning on applying to the I-House sophomore year? I really really really want to live there post-freshman year...

I'm applying to I-House after I study abroad. I think I'll just appreciate living there after I've attended school in another country.

I'm applying to I-House, and I will be living there. There's no other way.
