Study Abroad?

I know it's a bit early to think about study abroad (i'm just a fall 08 admit) but I'm just really curious. When is the best time to study in another country? And how will this affect my chances at getting in to med school? Thanks.

Studying abroad is just like studying at a UC. You can take some GE's at the study abroad school and possibly some of your requirements of your major. I mean, there's pre-med everywhere and that basically assures chem and bio ( : .

It's also almost the same price as attending a UC- so you should do it (:

did anybody go to Korea (yonsei university)?

i didn't, but my friend spent last summer there on EAP

my friend from berkeley went on that abroad program to yonsei and she said that she really regreted it because she just spent hella money that semester playing and the courses were just hella easy. didn't prepare her very well for anything else except learning how to play hard

that's interesting....

3rd year is when most students study abroad. While you can take GE classes abroad most people that I know (myself included) took major classes. Also keep in mind that some countries have a language requirement. Here's a link to check out:

University of California, Education Abroad Program

Korea is a pretty nice place, nice experience not to pass up if you have the money.

Anyone went to Japan?

i think I should just do the summer program before my junior year. Revelle has way too many GEs for me to do this at any other time. Thanks for all the info guys.

im taking revelle ge's in rome this summer..so that should be pretty neat, lol

does anyone know how studying abroad would affect off campus students? What do I do with my apartment while I'm gone? I'll have a roommate, but I don't want to have to pay rent while I'm not living there, but I'll only be gone for a quarter, so it's not like I could find a temporary replacement for me in the apartment...

If you're only gone for a quarter it can be tough, but a possible fix is to find international students studying abroad at UCSD during the same time you will be away.
