Hey guys I'm just confused on one thing,
I want to study abroad in Seoul or Beijing or Hong Kong for a year. However if the specific university I go to doesn't offer that program, can I do it through another school somehow? Thanks.

most schools will allow you to do that. you'd have to talk it over with your school, but most likely they'd let you work something out.

it might cost extra $$ to foot the bill though

You might want to look into SIT programs. Some schools have a relationship with SIT and their programming is really quite good.

Ok, thanks. BTW, what would the rough cost of studying abroad for 1/2 year in Asia be? A whole year?

i went to study abroad for the summer in beijing. i signed up for blcu (beijing language and culture university) and i paid in living expenses like $600 for a month partying every night like a king and buying mad gifts.

plan accordingly

you need to contact the schools and find out their policies.

So Ruo, for a year in Beijing with that program you pay only $7000? Thats awesome!

dont forget your tution cost plus your cost of travel you really should talk to your school about cost and transfer credits they may have scholarships that you would qualify for. good luck

So say I spend a year in China. If a year at my college costs $40,000, would I have to pay that in addition to the study abroad cost?

You pay what ever the cost of the program is and the cost of tuition if you want to get credit.

If your school does not offer it go through a school that you are a resident of so you will pay in-state tuition.

Another option would be to go to the website of a university in where ever you want to go and see if they offer some sort of program you could sign up for directly
