Studying Abroad

if we decide to take a core class, for example Physics, while studying abroad, is it true med schools will not accept premedical sciences taken abroad???

I'm sure that depends on where you're studying, but you should be okay. I'm positive a friend satisfied one of her biology requirements with an upper-level course she took in Australia. Also, depending on your university, there might be programs set up so that you're not even going to another university for credit (NYU being an example).

In general it seems to depend on how your home school considers the class, if your USA school accepts the class as their science class, you are probably oaky

Sorry I'm going to steal this thread hahaha...but the title is so broad anyways:
For study abroads, for a 2 week-3week session, has anyone had any experience with these, are they meaningful?

bump plz..................

I haven't done any of those 2-3 week sessions, but I think they'd be pretty useless. That's like taking a long vacation or something.

I've had friends who did them, and enjoyed them. Usually they're attached to a spring semester course where you go over the course's content, and then bridge that into a 3 week trip in Maymester. Some friends felt they were a little rushed (which they almost have to be) and elected to continue traveling once the class finished.

My D did a a Maymester language "total immersion" in Spain and it was very worthwhile.

A) It finished up her foreign language requirement.
B) It helped her learn Spanish.
C) It was a wonderful experience living with host families and absorbing Spanish culture for a short time in Salamanca and Madrid.
D) It didn't interrupt her science course sequences or deny her any courses only taught once per school year at her LAC.
E) She met students from all over the world and they did take advantage of all there is to do. Imagine a whole city that lives like college kids. "Time to go out to the club. It's midnight." LOL.
F) A Spanish immersion course is not a bad thing to have on an app at some schools.

Depending on scheduling, she'd like to do another.

thanks for the input guys!
