stupid phone companies

so i have alltell. and in april i got a razr and i signed up for a new plan and everything. so i paid $200 for the phone - and $7 a month for "insurance" if my phone ever broke.

so the other day I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. so i bring it in - figuring that my phone is "insured." But now, i go in and find out that theres a $100 deductable. So I have to pay an additional $100 to get my phone replaced.

I was pretty ****ed off as you can imagine, and i definately started a scene. after the sales lady explained that "its a $365 msrp phone. you only paid 200 because the rest was included in your month fee when you signed the contract." I then ask her "so whats the point of insurance if, I'm paying $365 for a phone that you advertised as $200 and neglected to tell that the rest was included in my monthly fees, $84 for insurance, and $100 as a deductable incase the phone breaks? I'm paying $550 for 2 phones, which you advertised as being $200 and I have insurance." She then had the nerve to tell me that they could "put my phone numbers onto my new phone for a nominal feel of $15."

she thought it was reasonable because "car companies charge a deductible on car insurance." But car companies don't charge 30% deductibles on the price of a new car - nor are your yearly car insurance payments 20% of the cost of a new car. what a crock. don't go with alltell - and especially don't go with any insurance crap.

I have insurance on my phone--great if you ask me. I didn't have to sign a new contract to get a new phone, so I can still cancel anytime I want. And, deductables are standard with insurance. Haven't your parents or teachers taught you anything useful like that?

Also, why would you pay $200 for a phone? A phone with fairly standard features, too. The only thing about it is that it's extremely thin, which you can find in other phones for much less.
