stupid questionn

does nyu only consider your highest Sat scores from each subsection of the SAT

yes, and they don't place much emphasis on the writing section.

Yep, though from what I've heard, they don't look at Writing.

Please no. Writing is my strongest -.-

of course they do, they just don't weight writing section as much as the Verbal and Math sections.

I haven't heard of NYU not looking at Writing. I don't know for sure what they like or don't like, but I'm sure they look at all sections. If anything, they probably just don't emphasize a certain section as much.

I am pretty sure NYU (at least the last 2 years) have only looked at the writing section to get a rough gauge of writing ability, so if you got a 400 on writing but have an admissions essay worthy of Faulkner, they'll look at you much more suspiciously. But I believe they still look at it primarily as out of 1600. If anyone has a quote from an adcom supporting/contradicting it, feel free to post it because this is just what I remember.

last year, a stern adcom lauged when asked if stern was using the writing section. as far as I know, most universities last year were still collecting data. i don't know about this year.
