Stupid questions about the SATs

Hello,

I'm an American abroad (all my life so far) in Europe and I want to go to college in the US next year, therefore I'm taking the SATs this year. Since I'm doing this all by myself and I don't have any counselors or courses to ask stuff, I'm always unsure about some things... so I'm hoping maybe some of you folks can help me out?!

Do I HAVE to select Score Recipients prior to taking the SATs?
Does it matter if I sent the scores to a school before applying?
If I take the SATs a second time and then send the scores, will the scores from the first test be send too?

Thanks in advance!

1) No, you don't have to select score recipients. The advantage of doing so is that those 4 recipients get the scores for no additional fee. If you don't use those reports, you will have to pay later to have them sent (unless you send them using a subsequent test - see below). The disadvantage of doing so is that you don't get to see the scores first.

2) No, it doesn't matter. Most schools have a system for keeping scores until a student applies and then matching them up to the student's application.

3) Yes. All prior scores are sent; there is no score choice. This applies to both SAT I and SAT IIs. However, future scores are not sent automatically. So let's say you send your scores on the first test, using one of your 4 reports, to School A. You then take the SAT again and send the scores to School B. School B will get your first scores, but School A will not get your second scores. You must specifically send your second scores to School A again, which will then have your first scores twice. (But don't worry; they'll know that the first scores are a repeat.)

Chedva is exactly right on all three counts!
