People say the topic of your essay isn't as important as how you write about the essay.

So would you say that a beautifully written essay about something bland is better than a decently written essay about something more interesting?

What if the person just isn't a very good writer?

My impression was that the essay didn’t have to be beautifully written as long as the writer’s personality really showed. Although a beautifully written essay would probably do more to reveal a writer’s characteristics. Does it really matter what the subject is as long as you can make yourself a desirable candidate and express character?

I agree with mike7vick. While your writing doesn’t have to be super eloquent, it needs to be good enough for you to fully portray your personality and character. The better the writer you are, the easier that is to do.
