What is more important in college essays, the style it is written in or the content? On average, not for extreme cases. For example, would it be better for an applicant to have good writing (maybe a couple of weird sounding sentences) but amazing content in their essays, or for an applicant to talk about something mundane but have excellent writing? Both essays would be good, interesting essays, with depth that relates to the applicant’s life but one would be extremely polished but with a mundane topic while the other might not flow as smooth but have excellent content.

6 of one, half dozen of the other. But if I have to give an advantge, I guess content might be marginally better. Having said that, a great writer who can make the mundane sound amazing is marginally better. See my first sentence.
Depends in large part on the personal preference of the admissions counselor reading the essay.
Every applicant should work to come up with the best essay he/she can in terms of BOTH style and content. As said above, each individual admissions officer might have a preference as to which might be a bit more important to him/her but there will not be an answer that is correct all across the board.
