Did Stanford change the policy on subject tests? I was about to order my DD’s subject test score report from the College Board - my notes showed that they did not allow score choice. When I double checked Stanford’s policy, I read that they welcome the self reporting of subject test scores. Why are students sending official subject test scores to Stanford rather than self-reporting them?
For test scores (other than AP) to be considered for admission, you have to send an official score report, for SAT I and SAT II. but, you can select which SAT IIs to send- score choice is allowed for subject tests.
@yonceonhismouth the following link http://admission.stanford.edu/application/freshman/testing.html states
SAT Subject Tests
SAT Subject Tests are optional. Because SAT Subject Test scores can highlight your areas of strength, we welcome the self-reporting of these results in your application.
I know instructions can differ on different parts of applications/websites and what you are saying is what my notes for Stanford say so can you tell me where you are getting your information from?
Stanford has always (at least the last several admissions cycles) allowed score choice on Subject Tests.
Perhaps that goes to show how much (or how little) weight Stanford gives to Subject Tests. I would think they would want an official report if they were going to really consider them. Regardless, any opinions you get here will be just that - opinions. If you want a definitive answer (not that you’ll get one), ask Stanford.
