SAT Subject Test Self Reporting

Since SAT subject tests has became optional for a lot of elite colleges. Do I 1) self - report them for applying, 2) send it through CB, or 3) just have my counsellor attach a sat subject test score report to my transcript?

  1. I can also Screenshot my sat subject test scores. Does it matter which option of the four I go with?

Yes, it matters. You have to follow the college’s guidelines. Self-reporting scores on the Common App is optional. However, in the case of Yale, if you want them to be considered, you need to send an official score report or have them listed on the transcript.

Note that if a score report is not sent, Yale reserves the right to verify your scores, and any discrepancies could jeopardize admissions.

If I’m not mistaken, if you’re reporting SAT I scores, you can have the SAT Subject Scores sent for no additional cost to the same schools. It’s been a while, so I might be wrong.

Took act @IxnayBob

If a school only says they will consider SAT II if submitted, does self-reporting suffice? (With awareness that school may ask for verification if admitted.) I’m thinking of, for example, when we see language as follows “X college does not require the submission of two SAT Subject Tests, but applicants who wish to submit Subject Test results may do so for consideration as part of the application evaluation process.”

@ProfessorMom1 – if the student wants the scores to be considered as part of the evaluation process, I would submit them via College Board. I do not know recall how Yale handles this, but many colleges have a sort of ‘top sheet’ that summarizes info the student has submitted: scores, college student is applying to (if applicable), some include interview info, etc. I don’t know that the reviewer will pull the scores out of the Common App, so it seems safer to report them.

Gotcha. That’s what I’ll do. Trying to save money where I can!
