Will umd take my november 5th subject tests into consideration for their priority app for scholarship money? Scores come in late november.

They don’t consider SAT IIs. At all. I know it sucks…

Really? It’s an option to send them on the online application. It says to give dates for test scores, and in the dropdown menu it gives an option of “SAT 2(Optional)”. Why would they say that if they don’t consider them?

bumparooski

I thought they didn’t. Its just that every other school I applied to had a plug for SAT IIs, saying they were optional, but made your application ‘stronger.’ However, Maryland NEVER mentioned SAT IIs at any of the four welcome visits/presentations I’ve been to. Actually, I could have sworn I asked at one point to and they say they don’t consider them. Kinda like the writing section of the SAT I.

If you do well, it can only help you. While they don’t require them, if you score high, it’s just another proof of your abilities. They will get the scores in time to see them when they are making decisions. Just like UMD does not require AP test scores, if you get 4’s and 5’s on all of them, you tell them about it…I would consider SAT II’s similar. I know that D1 certainly advertised her SAT II scores (required for one of her applications) in her UMD app.

@apm, I agree. They may not consider the II’s for admission, but I’m glad they were in my file when the time came to hand out merit awards. :)

they dont even look at it. i called the admissions office not one look.

damn… Lost a lot of motivation to study after reading this, thanks for the replies though.

^^^^see plumazul’s comment. It would be something I would suggest you put on your resume, or additional comments on the app, especially if you did well.

For admissions purposes only, the GPA and test scores are the main drivers. All the other stuff comes into play for special program invites, merit awards, etc.
