Hey guys, so I just called the CMU admissions office and asked them whether or not Subject Tests were required if one took the ACT, and just as the common data set says you are not required to submit them unless you took the SAT. Just wanted to clear up any mishaps anyone might’ve had in this regard. Feel free to call the admissions office though to double check this, this person COULD have been wrong although I highly doubt it
Many schools that do not require the SAT subject exams, still use them for merit based scholarships so better to take at least two SAT subject exams. Case Western uses the scores, but does not require subject exams, as does Georgia Tech. In fact, Georgia Tech gives college credit for the SAT Chemistry subject exam, as do other colleges. I don’t know about CMU.
