<p>Hey everyone! I'm an out of state student from Texas wanting to apply to UC Irvine really soon -- I read from this website that subject tests are no longer a requirement?</p>

<p>But would it be a good idea to take two subject tests anyways to possibly increase my chances of getting in? I have a 3.55 GPA, am in the top 17% of my class, and got a 1820 on my SAT...going to retake the SAT this October so I can hopefully break a 2000+. Maybe I'll be able to move up to the top 12% - top 15% after the first semester of my senior year.</p>

<p>Oh wait. I just looked at the Admissions Index page…I know that the ELC doesn’t apply to out of state students, but would the admissions committee use the Admissions Index method to calculate my GPA when looking at my application?</p>
<p>According to my school, my weighted GPA is a 4.41 as of now (a 5.0 is an “A” in an AP or Pre-AP course)…maybe will that be looked at?</p>
<p>It definitely won’t harm your application if you choose to include some SAT II scores. Most likely it will boost your chances if your scores are good. However, don’t report them if they’re not good.</p>
<p>The way they calculate your GPA should be the same, however make sure you’re only counting the a-g courses (some classes, such as art, don’t count) and counting 10-11th grade only. This should give you a good idea of your UC GPA, weighted and unweighted.</p>

<p>I have another question: Is the school of Criminology, Law, and Society a really competitive school to be admitted into at UCI?</p>

<p>I would take three, just in case you don’t do well in one of the tests, unless you’re confident you will get atleast or around 700 on them. Also the school of Criminology, Law, and Society is somewhat competitive to get into, but not as competitive as the business/sciences/engineering school, i think ur current stats give u atleast a 50% chance of getting in, i would say much higher but i dont want to underestimate the admissions process :P</p>
