Subject Tests

Hi! I am a rising high school senior and I had a question regarding subject tests. Many schools say that they don’t want Math 1 and Math 2 as the two SAT subject tests. Is that the same with history? I want to submit US history and World history; does Harvard prefer different subjects (math, science, english, history) or can these two be considered different subjects? I understand that you don’t have to submit SAT subject tests, but if I wanted to, would these to be different enough? Thanks!

World History and US History are different topics, so I think you’re fine.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking but I just wanted to be sure!

Harvard, Yale and Princeton no longer require SAT Subject Tests. So, submit whatever ones you want (or none). See:

Harvard: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/apply/application-process/sat-subject-tests

Yale: http://admissions.yale.edu/standardized-testing

Princeton: https://admission.princeton.edu/applyingforadmission/standardized-testing

Thanks @gibby ! For Yale, I noticed that it said to submit all the subject tests that I’ve taken if I were to submit them. Is that for one sitting or for all of them? Since there isn’t score choice, do i still have the option of not sending any even if I’ve taken multiple? Thanks!

^^ I don’t know . . . and that’s a great question. I would call Yale’s Admissions Office and alert them to this issue, and suggest they clarify it for everyone on their website.

It’s for all of them. If you took the chem test 3X, you need to send them all.

Okay, thanks!
