A school I will be applying to requires two sat subject tests to apply. I am very good at histroy so I signed up to take world and us this June. I'm sure ill do well on them, my only concern is that it will be frowned upon taking two subject tests in technically the same subject. Will this be a problem or will the schools not care what tests I take (I'm going to major in some sort of humanities)

I have only heard not to take Math1 and Math2 together as many schools would only consider one. US History and World History are still 2 different subjects and may be useful if you want to be a History major. You may add a third subject even at the spot and you may cancel the score immediately afterward if you don’t like it. Adding a third test only costs you $12.

Why wonder?

Check the admissions webpages for each college to which you’ll apply. The school should make it very clear which SAT Subject tests fulfill the requirement (if it exists at all). As previously mentioned, many schools which ask for two Subject tests specifically state that they will not accept scores from both SAT Subject math tests (Math Level 1 and Math Level 2). This means that a student should submit the better Math Subject test score and a score from another non-math subject test. I have yet to see any college specifically state that a student could not submit both the US History and World History Subject tests, which would fulfill the “two Subject test” requirement.

If it’s unclear to you whether you can use the two History Subject tests to fulfill the SAT Subject test requirement, contact the schools separately and ask a member of each admissions office to clarify its school’s SAT Subject test recommendations.

FYI, there’s at least one college of which I am aware that “strongly recommends” submitting scores for 3 SAT Subject tests…and no restrictions are placed on which 3 Subject tests are submitted. (It’s Georgetown, BTW.)

Thank you! I do have literature on my subject tests list as well, so hopefully that will be all the scores I need for any of the school I apply to

Take a third SAT II test that isn’t history if you’re so concerned. Besides, if your major is history or related to history, why should it matter?

Also, I am taking the World History SAT II this year even though I took the US History SAT II last year, only because I did really badly on the US History one. Ha…
