Subject Tests

I took four subject tests, even though Yale only requires three. On the first three (US History, Literature, and World History) I got a 790, 760, and 790, respectively. However, on the last (Spanish), I got a 590. I am midway through my third year of Spanish, a class in which I have frankly been very disappointed since I have learned almost nothing new in it. As a result, I felt very unprepared for the test.

How much will this hurt my chances?

EDIT: I had designated Yale as one of the schools to which the College Board would immediately send my scores. By the time I found out about my Spanish score, it had already been sent.

yale requires two actually

That's fine don't worry. Unless you say your majoring in Spanish- it won't work against you at all.

Ha...no. I'll probably end up majoring in Psychology or History.

Thanks. You've stilled my panicking heart.

yeah, Yale is two, not three...dewai

I think 590 is actually pretty impressive if you haven't even completed level three. o.O Most of the kids who take it are in AP Lang or even Lit.

Also, it won't affect you too much, given your other scores, so don't worry about it.

Your other scores are nice.

I actually know a kid that's at Yale now that got a similar score in Spanish, AND sent it accidentally.

Also, I think at any school, unless you're amazing well accomplished/dedicated in a certain field, a declared major in that field wouldn't really be relevant to the adcom as so many students alter or completely change majors.
