Subjects of Teacher Recommenders

Hi everyone,

I've seen a lot of people on here saying that the 2 recommendations should be from teachers who teach two very different subjects i.e. one from humanities and one from sciences/maths.
As I'm currently doing A-Levels in the UK, I don't have that sort of range of subjects: Spanish, French, Latin, History. I'm planning to get recommendations from my history and latin teachers. Would this affect the quality of the recs in any way?

Thanks

I highly doubt it. It really wouldn’t make much of a difference even if you had a more diverse schedule, and considering that the schools you’re applying to will know your schedule, they’ll be understanding.

That is not necessarily a good idea. It really depends on which teacher knows you more and can write something good about you. If you have too many good recommenders to choose from, then why not pick 2 from very different areas that may cover different aspects of you. I don’t see that as critical.

Keep in mind that it’s fine to ask for a recommendation from a teacher you had last year. Generally, you would only ask for a recommendation from current year teachers if they know you well (maybe have taught you in a prior year).
