So, I had decided that my calculus teacher was the write my sole recommendation for my colleges. I chose her because I am very interested in math, she likes me, and I spent one month working with her one on one because the seniors in my school left. I don't think many people ask her to write a recommendation

The other teacher I asked to write other schools recs was my US history teacher. She knows that I could have participated more in her class and knows that I tried to participate. But a lot of people ask her to write recommendation and I at first didn't want her to write my recs because she told me last year that I could talk more in her class... My math teacher has only written good things about me, whether through progress notes or verbally...

So should I send a history teacher rec or not? I already gave my history teacher all the envelopes for all the schools, so I'm not sure what she would say if I gave her one more form (She said she is sending everything in at once).

"Letters of Recommendation
Tufts requires one letter from a teacher in a junior or senior year major academic course (math, natural science, social science, English, or a foreign language) and one letter from a guidance counselor. Additional letters, though not encouraged, may be submitted if the student feels they can add new perspective to his/her application."

Send the second rec if it will add a new (helpful) perspective. You could take Tufts at their word, and send just one. It sounds like you have concerns over the what the History teacher will write...will her "new perspective" be helpful to your application.

My son just went through the same decision for Tufts and a few other schools. He has decided to send two recs because they will have different perspectives to offer on him.

yeah. if you're not confident enough of what the teacher is going to write, and if it's option, i'd say no. however, if you feel that the teacher will talk about some minor little blemish on your app and cover it up for you, you might want her to send on in.
