Submit or not? ACT E36, M28, R36, S35, combined 34

My son took the ACT once in February and had been planning to retake to improve the math, which was an outlier compared to his practice tests. But in our area, it has not been given again, and likely won’t be before applications are due.

He is Junior in an IB program with a 42 so far, and a 6 in SL AA math. He plans to study humanities and aspires to a top 20 school

Would submitting this score be a pro or con? The scores are great in his area of interest, but the math is bottom 25th percentile… The combined 34 is good for most schools.

Any thoughts?

Definitely submit it.

I asked the same question this morning in regard to SAT (similarly lopsided, except the combined score was 1460=33). I received 6 responses, mostly from CC veterans, saying “yes” without any hesitation. In your case, it think it would be a SCREAMING yes!

One correction, my son is a senior. @ArtsyKidDad thanks for flagging you post. Our kids are remarkably similar (foreign languages, music, humanities) and your other threads were useful as well!

Yes! Yes! She screamed in “Harry met Sally”.

How’s that?

Keep in mind your lucky you even have a score. Many do not. Write a great essay now

Yes, submit it. It’s not going to do any harm and it might help.
