I’m currently a senior, class of 2021, and I filled out the FAFSA form for the 2020-2021 school year instead of 2021-2022. I did not know it was supposed to be 2021-2022 nor did I know that the FAFSA forms aren’t available until October 1st. What do I do? Do I need to call the colleges that I sent the FAFSA to or just refile it for 2021-2022?
Oh no, can some move this question to the appropriate forum/topic?
I think you can just delete the wrong FAFSA and then file your correct one on October 1.
The colleges will know that you are not currently attending there.
Don’t worry about this any more. Just file the correct one when it becomes available.
You can just forget about the wrong year FAFSA, but you might want to print it out because you have all the info on it…right?
It may also be possible to roll over your demographic information (name, etc) from that 2020-2021 form.
Just do the 2021-2022 form after October 1 using 2019 tax year information.
Much of your information will roll over to the 2021-2022 form when you start that (as early as October 1). If you do the IRS data retrieval for the tax information, completing the new FAFSA will be a breeze!
Don’t worry about the “wrong” FAFSA. Schools will just ignore that one.
