Hi everyone, I had a quick question about the Harvard supplement essay. I submitted my Harvard RD application on December 15th, and I just realized that in my rush to meet the earlier deadline, I accidentally submitted a previous draft of the supplement rather than the most recent version. Fortunately, the difference between the drafts is just in the last sentence. In the previous draft, the last sentence was a little vaguer and not as directly related to the message I was trying to convey. I think they’ll still be able to understand the message with the previous draft, but it might not be quite as clear. Do you think it’s worth it to email my local admissions rep with the most recent version of the essay and explain my mistake, or will this just make them think that I’m careless? I know it’s not a big difference, but I just wanted my application to be the best it could. Thank you so much!
I don’t think it’s worth emailing and drawing attention to it if it’s only the last sentence. It really shouldn’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things; I wouldn’t worry!
I would almost certainly recommend not emailing with the correction. Feel free to message me the two sentences if you want a second pair of eyes.
For what it’s worth, I completely screwed up my supplemental essay for Harvard by sending in my Yale supplemental essay LOL. I did make sure my supplemental essay was 3x the length of the Yale one and of course corrected it.
