Mentioned "Harvard" in Yale supplement essay. Am I retarded enough?

Hi.

So basically I used the same essay for Yale as for Harvard, but I forgot to change a reference from Harvard to Yale. The essay is focused on an entirely different topic, and this thing is mentioned only in the concluding paragraph.

Seriously, what should I do? I am so unbelievably stupid ....

facepalm

Hahah, I used the exact same essay for harvard and yale too. First used find-replace. Then double checked. Then checked again when I pasted it into commonapp. And checked again when I read the pdf preview.

From what ive heard, ppl ussually email admissions saying that they accidentally uploaded the wrong supplement.

hahhahahahhahahahahaaaaaaa

No, seriously, what should I do? Should I just email the admission office and explain that I used the same essay for both schools and say it was a careless mistake?

What’s done is done. Calling further attention to it will not improve your admissions chances. Take comfort in knowing that many successful applicants have far worse mistakes in their apps than this. Yale admitted a student several years ago who listed “clam fart” as an activity: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/470497-clam-fart-oh-my-god-what-did-i-do.html?highlight=clam+fart

You should hope you get into Harvard  But actually I would fix it and send them a copy saying you accidentally submitted the wrong one so hopefully they don’t read it at all thinking you’ve submitted a completely different one

Thanks, niceday, for sharing. You made me waste my lunch hour, but that thread is hilarious.
