Submitting a TAG soon, things going too fast..!

Hi again, I thought i'd made a separate topic for this one...

I just finished a year at a CC, and now I am a sophmore.

I plan on transferring to UCSB where I will study Economics (maybe with accounting depending on if I have time or not with the TAG filing)..

I am starting fall semester 2012 soon and I am going to take Econ 101 (Microeconomics), and Accounting 101 for my major.

Now my question is...I still need that ONE calculus class, which is Business Calc (math 112)....and I didn't think it would be a problem for me to take later because I am barely a sophmore...I even thought I was ahead in all my classes because I am almost basically done with the IGETC ...and i've knocked off most of my major related classes. I just didn't think I'd need to take it this semester...and i thought I had time so I'd take accounting and 2 more calc courses so i can major econ n accounting. I took ACCTG 101 as a hit or miss thing...like if I have time to take the extra courses for the major then I'll do it, if not, whatever haha.

I wanted to transfer out in 2 years...im done with one. Now I dont want to have to miss anything TAG related because I havent taken that one calc course yet.

The TAG filing period starts november....does fall semester even end by november? Do I have to have my major related classes done BY november? Or does that TAG filing process simply state that you are in the process of transferring to a UC and still have classes that need to be completed etc etc.

Thank you!...

And one more thing, my GPA is ALMOSTTTTT a 3.2, and I am sure I can get it up to 3.2 and higher by this semester,,,,but does my GPA Have to be a 3.2 by the time I submit a tag?

Basically ..Sophmore year is the start of the whole application process?

You need to talk to a transfer counselor at your cc. Mine were extremely helpful making sure everything was accurate with my TAG application. The Tag application is filled out and submitted Sept 1-30. Deadline is Sept. 30. Then you submit the regular UC applications in Nov. just as you would if you weren’t doing a TAG. When you do the TAG application (as well as the UC app.) you list the classes that are IP (in progress) and Planned. You need to have all classes done by the end of spring 2013 semester usually. It is not necessary to have things completed by the end of the fall semester. All colleges figure you will be finishing IGETC and major reqs in the fall and spring. But please make an appointment with your cc’s transfer counselor to make sure you are aware of all deadlines, etc.

Lol. You already posted a similar thread the other day and we were helping you out. Listen, will you have your major pre-reqs done by the end of Spring 2013? Will you have a 3.2 GPA by the END of Fall? If not, then your TAG will not be approved and you will be considered a regular applicant without the benefits of TAG. At least have your major pre-reqs planned for the Spring 2013 semester and your TAG will still be valid. It would have been ideal if you could finish your major pre-reqs by the end of this fall semester.

Lastly, the TAG filing period starts TOMORROW (Septemeber 1-30), not November. The UC application filing period starts in November.

^ They explained it really well. Basically you absolutely with NO exceptions need the following:

3.2 GPA by the end of Fall 2012

Microeconomics

Macroeconomics

Statistics + Calculus
OR

2 Calculus classes

2.75 average in these 4 classes listed above with no grades lower than ‘C’.

These can be done by Spring 2013 but you must list it as in progress or planned.

Also UCSB only offers guaranteed admission to UCSB with TAG. You can still be approved for TAG and denied into the Econ/Econ+Accounting major.

^^^To be clear, if you meet the TAG requirements for the Econ or Econ/Accounting major, you will be admitted into the PRE-major at UCSB. There, you’ll have to take the remaining few classes and earn a minimum 2.85 in those classes. Then you’ll be admitted into the full major.
