Submitting description of research?

How would I go about doing this if I'm already using the optional section of part 2 for an extra essay? Would I fax it?

You can mail the essay on paper to the admissions office – the address is at the bottom of the admissions webpage.

Does MIT want an abstract or the entire research paper? Also can we e-mail the pdf file to the admission people instead?

Matt McGann has said in the past that they prefer to hear about “your research experience: how you got interested in the field, how you acquired your research opportunity, your results, what you learned, how this experience influences your future plans, etc.” You can certainly send an abstract or a paper, but it’s unlikely that MIT will be able to have it properly evaluated.

You should mail your supplemental material to the admissions office in hard copy form.

this is true.

For something along the lines of mollie’s suggestion, would I write that in the additional info section unless it was already in an essay?

…I accidently sent MIT a supplement without a cover letter. Though I had my name, SSN and DoB on it, will I be penalized?

No. Misspelling “accidentally” would be a worse offense.
