Submitting hard copies of teacher recs? Very confused.

Hello there CCers!

My junior year English teacher has agreed to write my recommendation letter, and I am very happy, I think he is capable of writing a great letter.

But, the problematic part is that he has accepted a job offer at another school, and so I cannot request recommendations from him through Naviance (which is how my school runs pretty much everything). He has said he is more than willing to send hard copies of his LOR to each school, but I'm not really sure how to go about this process. Do I need to secure teacher evaluation forms from each school I'm applying to and mail them to him? I'm applying to a lot of schools, and while it will be a lot of work on my end to get everything together, I'm not looking to make the poor guy fill out 15 forms, that seems just cruel and unusual. I was always under the impression it was more of a "write one letter and make 15 copies" kind of thing. What if I don't know exactly what schools, or how many I'm applying to yet (I'm kind of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants person)? Does this seem too complicated, would it be easier to try to get a rec from someone else?

“Do I need to secure teacher evaluation forms from each school I’m applying to and mail them to him?” It’s not that big a deal. It is “One and make copies.” The eval form (if the college even has one) is one page where they fill out some ID info at top and staple their LOR and mail it. This eval form would take 20 seconds to fill out.

Otherwise, the LOR will just be mailed to the college admissions office with a note on the margin identifying you, your HS, and probably your DOB.

If you feel he’s a great writer for you, stick with it. After all, he said it’s fine.

send your teacher self addressed pre stamped envelopes to all of the schools you want him to send the LOR. He will write the letter or complete a form and then make copies and mail to each of the schools in the envelopes.

Check with the schools, maybe he can fax or email his LOR directly to the school.

Check with your guidance/college office in the HS. Since he recently worked there, they know him and may be able to get his letter into the system or give him access. That could save everyone a lot of work.

Yes, ask your Guidance Counselor how to handle it.
