Submitting more than 1 letter of recommendation?

Most colleges require 2 (and they should typically be from 1 math/science and 1 humanities), for Brandeis should I stick to 1 LOR or should I still send 2?

Also, if I were to send one, which subject category should it be in? I already have 2 teachers picked out (english, math) whom I believe would write similar LORs

I’m not familiar with Brandeis’ policy, but the advice I’ve heard is to send in however many they ask for, as long as you’re fairly certain all the letters speak highly of you. Regarding subject, maybe choose a STEM teacher if you’re interested in a STEM major, but remember that you want letters from teachers you connected with, not just teachers who gave you As. If you’re torn between them, ask your guidance counselor for help. They probably have a better idea of the quality of recs that each teacher writes.

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I didn’t make it clear, but Brandeis only requires 1 LOR which I find very strange. I think I’ll set up a meeting with my counselor to clear things up, but I think I know now who I will be asking.

Brandeis uses the common app, so if you have 2 letters in there, that’s what they will get. My son is a freshman at Brandeis this year. I don’t recall anything suggesting that you should limit the number of recommendations. I’d send both without a second thought.
