I was reading some reviews about NYU dorms, and one of the reviews said that in their dorm, you could constantly smell drugs, etc. in the dorms. I don't smoke or do drugs, so I was wondering if there were any substance-free halls in the dorms?
Also, how do they pair up dorm roomates? Do they have you fill out a survey to pair you up with someone that's like you?

Apart of the Explorations I believe there’s CHOICES floors that have what your looking for. From what I remember, there’s only one in Rubin and one in 3rd North.

No, drug use is mandatory in all dorms. None are substance free.

I agree. The city is full of drugs. Don’t expect NYU to be a safe haven from the city.

even though there are substance free floors, you’d be hard pressed to find a freshman dorm that didn’t have stumbling drunk kids outside 3 days a week. from what i understand, goddard is a “residential college” which means more staff involvement, more community oriented kids, and, as follows, less ne’erdowells. if it’s a big concern i’d probably try goddard, but it’s not going to be drug free.

Lol @jjohn42
