I'm submitting a quasi-resume under Additional Info section of the Common App. However, I'm struggling to keep mine succinct, and it's 15 pages long atm. I cannot seem to cut out the details, especially when they are crucial to the explanation of a particular activity.

15 pages? Try to cut it WAY down. The cut/paste box for additional info only has room for 2000 characters so, even if you’re uploading a document, try to keep it around that. 2000 characters is about a page double spaced.

Resumes shouldn’t have explanations on them, except for things that the adcoms would have no idea about.

They know about most activities such as Key Club, Science Olympiad, StuCo, Science Bowl, etc. If you feel it’s necessary to note that you organized an event for Key Club, for instance, add another line under Key Club saying “Event Coordinator.”

Generally, resumes are only 1-2 pages tops for undergrads/high schoolers. If you have published papers or done presentations, then maybe 3 or 4 pages very maximum. HR and adcom staff quickly lose attention after the second page…even if you actually cured cancer on the 7th page. Make sure you are using Times New Roman, font 12, no double spacing etc.

Also cut down the number of activities. Concentrate on the top six or seven. Mention only activities in grades 9-12 unless you have prior national awards (which will require little explanation). Do not use full sentences - use bullet points. Explanations are limited to two lines tops.
