I remember having a discussion sometime here in CC about the situation in Darfur .

Well, the U.N. has said it is bringing charges of genocide against Sudan's President Al-Bashir.

I think the guy is a nutjob: when the UN tried to send troops he said he didn't want a "second colonization of Africa" and didn't allow them to do anything.

I really hope a second Holocaust hasn't happened.

Funding para-military organizations to accomplish one's political goals is a very common practice. During the Cold War, the US relied on this technique extensively in Afghanistan, Nicaragua, etc. I agree that heinous crimes are being perpetrated, but perspective is important; in reality, such methods are very widespread. Indeed, selective applications of justice are abhorrent. Unless numerous members of the UN are willing to disavow such practices, they have no right to prosecute others for following in their footsteps.

Well, we have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

Hopefully they get him like they did Charles Taylor and Milosevic.
