Suggest me a school to apply early to. No, I'm serious!

Yeah, I posted this by mistake on the chances thread....realized later that it belongs here. My apologies.

I know the first reaction, you Should only apply early to a school you'll truly be happy at. No! Being an International, I have NO way of visiting schools and seeing which is a better fit. Having born the brunt of selection yester-year and failing to get into a single school, this is my profile as it should look after a gap year. I am, of course, applying for the class of 2013.

Suggest me a good school to apply early to. I want it to be as, ahem, good as possible, giving a significant amount in aid to intls, and one that I will have a realistic chance at getting in without it being too easy (something like WUSTL, but it wait listed and then booted me last year, so...)

This is how my profile looks like. I am an international from Pakistan. You know the drill, see it, and suggest a match/reach school to apply early to. Believe me, I can be happy everywhere :D

Thanks a lot for reading this. Now please select a school for me.

International + Financial Aid = Killing your chances

Need blind for international schools.
Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Middlebury College, MIT, Princeton University, Williams College, Yale University, and Amherst College.

^ And Georgetown, as I recently learnt

GT is need-blind but also says that “A very limited number of need-based scholarships is available to students who are neither US Citizens or US permanent residents and who demonstrate financial need.”
So they might accept you but won’t meet your financial need.

Can someone tell me how far does Dartmouth match me?

@ Elastine - I’m applying ED Dartmouth. I’m from India. Let me PM you and we can discuss stuff. I’m in the same position as you (gap year) :)

It depends on what you want in a college

What kind of students fit Dartmouth?

University of Tulsa. They have rolling admissions. They are very proud that they are one of the few universities in the US with a mosque on campus.

MIT sounds like a good fit for you.

Why don’t you check this thread out
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/international-students/508008-so-schools-each-international-going-10.html

I think a lot or pretty much everyone received some sort of financial aid last year. It might be a guide to have an idea what schools are generous, which ones are not. If you want a safety apply to the University of New Orleans, with your stats you have a full ride there.

Smith (and they have quite a few students from Pakistan)

Thank you everyone. Anyone else?

Does anyone know any place we can get fin aid statistics, esp for internationals?

I think you have a really good shot at Mount Holyoke.

^^^ scratches head wasn’t that female only?

I think if you can boost the SAT a bit Dartmouth should be a good shot. Never certain, however.

haha yeah it’s an all womens college. forgot to check if you were a guy or gal, my bad! but if you’re the latter, MHC’s an excellent choice, as are other women’s colleges esp. the Seven Sisters

Hello from down south in Bangalore!

Great stats! I suggest someone of your caliber apply to the University of Pennsylvania (aka Penn), with great strength across a wide range of disciplines and already chock full of South Asians.

You might be a great candidate for the interdisciplinary and super ultra awesome Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business which combines an undergraduate business degree from the Wharton with an international studies degree from Penn’s College of Arts & Sciences.

Check it out at [Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business](The Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business - The Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business) :)

bumped in desperation.
