Suggest Safeties with Great Atmosphere/Art & Eng Programs?

Hey all, I've been trying to come up with some potential safeties/sure bets in my list. In my search, I'm looking for some (but not necessarily all) of the following:
-Cozy atmosphere and student life
-Good Art, English and History programs, and if possible, has strong offerings in journalism or creative writing
-Easily accessible professors
-Independent, open-minded student body

Statistics in a nutshell:
Asian American studying abroad
SAT: 1560/2270 (CR790 M770 W710)
SAT II: IIC and Lit, to be taken (IIC probably mid 600's, Lit high 700's)
APs: Euro 5, Art Hist 5, USH 4, Eng Lang 4, Eng Lit, Studio Art, and Stats
Very strong ECs that show my passion for art, english, and writing. Great essays, and hopefully glowing recommendations.

My list:
Brown (ED)
Dartmouth
Tufts
Pomona
Reed
Middlebury
Vassar

In regard to safeties, I have considered Pitzer and Eugene Lang, but my parents push for more well-known colleges. Their thoughts are if I'm going to go to the safety school, it better be one that can still get me a job or into grad school. Thoughts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd suggest a couple of these:

Trinity (CT)...safety
CWRU...safety
Union...safety
Lehigh...safety
Wake Forest...safety

What's your GPA? can you give us a better look at your ECs?

Bard College - well-known LAC with all you're looking for, (so it seems,) and within reach.

Bard - thanks JuJu, I'll check it out!

lolabelle, my GPA is 3.61/4.00 UW. This puts me at about the top 10-15% of my class (there's incredible grade deflation here). My condensed resume is as follows:

Activities

School Newspaper: Arts Section Editor
School Bilingual Magazine: Exclusive Section Editor
Student Senate: Executive Committee Member
Language Center: Teacher Assistant
Food for the Hungry: Treasurer
National Honors Society: Member
Crossroads International Art Miles Mural Project: School-Selected Artist
School Accreditation Survey: Student Representative

Awards/Publications

High Honors Roll 2004-06
Humanities Award
Art History Award
Studio Art Award
High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling, team awarded National Outstanding (Top 3-4%)
Junior Research Paper, awarded distinction
Published in two online literary magazines

Work Experience
TV Commercial Actor for Fanta and a broadband company's ads
Clothing Designer for popular online casual clothing line
Marketing clerk at a ladies' clothing company

connecticut college- very similar to vassar, but a bit easier to get into.

Thanks huskem55 - I'll look into Conn College! Any other suggestions?

improve, I'd suggest the following for good art + English and overall creative atmosphere.
Most selective Williams, Wesleyan
Medium selective Hamilton, Kenyon
Less selective Skidmore, Conn College
If you are female Smith

All of these schools have strong career placement offices and access to internships and summer jobs.

I would put these over some of the other schools on your list. Brown and Vassar have really good art departments.
Tufts has a tie-in with the museum in Boston but it's not easy to get a dual degree due to logistics.
Dartmouth, Middlebury, Pomona, Reed are very good schools but I wouldn't give their art departments especially high marks.
If you want another ivy league I'd go with Yale.

Will you be submitting a slide portfolio? (You should)

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
