Suggest some cellphones for me

Hi!

My old cellphone broke (cheap alcatel from like 2000 or something lol) and my parents have decided to buy me one since i've been begging for one since last month.

Yeah.. so i need help choosing a phone.

I'm quite liking motorola and samsung phones.
I don' want much from a phone : just a good quality camera and video recording and maybe mp3 player. I like those flip designed phones (clamshells?) and some of those slidey phones..(im still getting used to the slidey ones though)

Design is really important to me because i like my things pretty. These are some phones that I think look good:

Motorola V80
Motorola V505
Samsung E800
Motorola 710
Nokia 7270
Nokia 7260

I love the design of Nokia 7260 but I've heard that it's a waste of money because it doesn't really do much - all the qualities are 'average'
I don't really like the Nokia 7260's keypads but I like the big screen..

Can anyone suggest some phones for me? I prefer older phones in your country because they will be too expensive here or they won't even be in new zealand lol.

Thanks!

I think Motorazr is good too!, a sleek design

Razor looks good with bells and whistles, but it's difficult to get used to holding because it's so slim. Battery life is AWFUL and mine had a problem with "charging." The authorized repair person for Motorola where I live, says it's a common problem.
I have a 6620 now which is bulky, but I love it. Has internet capability, etc, large screen and excellent battery life.

Sorry..Nokia 6620.

razor is only $199 as oppose to the $499 it was before...but thats if you're going for sheer looks.

Don't get the motorola v80....my friend has it and sure, it wows a lot of people who see it, but he barely even used it because it has TERRIBLE reception. Plus, it broke within a few months.

I'd go for the Samsung D500

Motorola V600.

I like Sony-Erricson phones

thanks guys for your suggestions!

I'm very tempted to buy Motorola V80 but as you said dazedandconfused88, I heard that the green joystick broke off easily, the top part swung off,etc and I hate getting stuff sent away to get repaired. If i get it, hopefully the reception won't be a problem here..

adides, coqui, mom: which one is the motorola razor?

and samsung D800 and motorola V600 is already on my list so yeahh.. gotta narrow my list down to one phone..

primitive, i personally dont like sony eric phones because of the way the buttons look.. stupid reason i know lol

Nokia 6620 has good features but i'm not so sure about the design. i feel so shallow, picking phones due to their looks hehehe

What phones have a great VGA camera?
(and maybe mp3 capable too..?)

thanks

A non flip phone. Everyone has one these days. March to the beat of your drum.

i have a sony ericcson z500a ... it has odd ringtones and odd standard pictures, but other than that, it's awesome and it works international and has a camera with video mode and all that good stuff... its nice.

thanks guys
grapeful - i'm going to go with those slidy ones.
adam - soz i'm not dat interested in sony erics but thanks n e way.

i think im going to go with samsung d500 but SO tempted to buy motorola v80.. but.. i'm just going to go with samsung.

thanksies

Do any of you know anything about the TracPhone service? Does it work well? If so, would any of you be willing to help out a cell-phone luddite as you helped out NoFX?

Here are my choices:
Motorola C343
Motorola C155
Motorola V170
Nokia 2600
Nokia 1100
Motorola 120
Motorola v60
Nokia 1221
Nokia 2286
Nokia 5100

All I want is a reliable phone that will let me call home upon occasion. I don't need a camera, mP3 player, text messaging, or anything else except a vibrating alert for school, preferably. Any suggestions?

NoFX- I had assumed you were done with the thread, but if you want it back, my apologies for hijacking!

tracphone is terrible... terrible... terrible. if you are gonna get a prepaid phone, get one through cingular. i think they have really good deals (but i'm not too sure) and its waaaaay cheaper than tracphone.

no sony ericsson? whyy? they're the best... get what you like best from the K series... K750i if it's within budget

the motorola razor is the really thin one on all the commericial and stuff. its also really "pretty" looking and stuff

Adamo,
I since found out about TracFone's reputation and crossed them off my list. You say Cingular has good pre-paid?

sony errcisson w800i rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
