Hey, I'm entering my junior year and I know lots of people will say it's too early to think about college but I'm kinda confused. All I know is that I really want to go to UC Berkeley and I think I have a chance of getting in (considering I posted that question on here, and everyone replied that I could get in). But what are some other colleges I could get in or should look at? What about some colleges that are reach or I have a "shot" at getting into. And safety schools? Schools where I should be able to get a scholarship to?

My Stats:

GPA is 4.333 Weighted, not including freshmen year. Unweighted is 4.000. UC GPA is 4.25

Rank is currently the top 1%. Hopefully will be at least top 5% for rest of high school.

I haven't taken SATs yet but when I took PSAT at beginning of sophomore year my projected score for the SAT was about 1700-2000. This was before I had studied at all, but a while afterwards, I started studying by taking the SAT Question of the Day and learning some vocab words. I'm taking the PSAT again at the beginning of junior year and should improve a lot, then taking actual SAT towards end of junior year. Also, I scored 90, 94, 96 % higher than other sophomores so I think that was pretty good..

My goal is at least 2100 on the SAT.

I took 2 honors classes freshmen year, 1 honor and 1 AP sophomore year. This has been the most you can take. Next year I am taking the 3 AP classes, the most you can take is about 5. Senior year I should take about 4 APs, again out of 5/6 classes available. I think I passed the one AP test I took, and plan to study/try to pass all the tests I take.

The clubs I'm in are National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, French Club, and another club that prevents drug/alcohol use in teens. Next year I'm joining Speech and Debate and a community service club. I'm also planning to start a club.

I plan to have at least 300 community service hours by the time I apply. I've done a lot of my volunteering at two places, steadily, so that shows commitment, right?

I'm also planning to sign up with a charity, in which I'll be charge of running clean ups in our area, as well as doing some other things to help environment.

I might be interning or "volunteering" with an office or something like that over summer. Next year, I should get into internship program with my congressman's office (you have to be a senior for that). I'm also looking into some summer programs so there might be that.

Any other suggestions of things to do? Is 300 community service hours enough; should I try for more?
