I'm a senior year ethiopian student. I'm currnetly trying to narrow down my college wants and I don't I have a clue.
I'm going to take this month's SAT and next month's TOEFL.
I have a "not that much" extracurriculars.
I'm planning to major in Biochemistry and Cornell is in my circle.
A need based financial aid is the main thing for me.
A good College/University or Liberal arts suggestion for a guy like me is the most well reply.
With a single week to go I need good suggestions otherwise I'm doomed(REALLY).

If you have the grades and can achieve the test scores to get accepted, Cornell may give you a financial aid package that will make attending possible. The trick is getting accepted first. Many schools do consider financial need when they make admissions decisions, and even more so in the case of international students. That means if you have a high level of financial need your odds of getting in might go down. On the other hand, it doesn’t preclude you from being accepted. If they want you, then schools like Cornell will try to make it possible.

Unfortunately, the schools most likely to help you are the ones that are the hardest to get into. When you say you “have a week to go”, I’m not sure what you mean, but most students who do get accepted to those very generous schools have been working toward that goal for years, in terms of courses, grades, test scores, and extracurricular activities.

Being from Ethiopia might be a plus. I think they have such a high number of applicants from India, China, and Korea, that those who want a more international student body would certainly give your application a careful review. Still, they will want you to at least have the academic background that suggests you’ll be successful there. The lack of extracurriculars they might not care about so much in your case.

Good luck!

The OP’s problem and the suggestion of Cornell are both the same. As an international student his/her ability to pay will be a factor in admissions. Cornell offers very little international aid.
