toner costs so much that buying a laser printer for price is not worth it. if you get a decent inkjet printer, it'll be just as fast, print color, and the ink will cost less.

Wrong hoogli, laser printers cost less per print than inkjets, which is why most companies use laser printers. Toner costs more, but you get many more prints per cartridge than a ink jet cartridge. Sure, the start up costs are higher, but you save money as soon as an inkjet cartridge needs replacing.

yea, so does any1 have a laser printer they like...that was cheap?

you can get the lowest model Brother or HP laser printer for just around $100. Both are solid monochrome laser printers that should serve you just fine. I use a REALLY old HP laser printer at work and it still runs like a charm; it was built like a tank.

HP LaserJet 1022--works great, fast, toner lasts 4K-5K pages.

HP Printers are very good, but I have a Brother HL 2040 and would highly recommend it.

I ended up getting the hp 1020; it was under $100 with toner, and i'd recommend it to everyone.

Brother 2040 is amazing.

Cheap - Its about 60. Toner was 40 dollars.

Toner also prints out .. get this, 2500 pages. (you could print out 2500 pages full of ink too)

Another vote for Brother. I have one of their multi-function laser printers for my home office, and have used it daily for several years without any problems.

I have an HP laser jet 3015 that I have used for 2 years and it works great. The print quality is great and the first page out time is really short. The device has an ADF (automatic document feeder( for scanning to a PC, or using as a copier. It also comes with a Fax. The print cartridge is a 2000 page cartridge and you can find it for about $65.

Amazon.com: Samsung ML-2010 Mono Laser Printer: Electronics

This seems to be the successor to the model I have.

I have an HP officejet I believe it is 6210. It is an all-in one scanner, coppier, fax machine, and printer. I believe I got it on sale for $179 and I've had it for about 18months and have not had to change the ink yet. Highly reccomend it.

P.S: Something to think about, if you buy a copier/scanner, make sure you get one with a top load tray and not just the flat bed. My dad bought the latter and when he has to copy or scan papers he has to do them one-by-one. BIG pain in the ass.
