A year ago, I was academically disqualified from UCSD with a gpa of 1.4 and in the major of computer science. I was having personal issues and I don’t really think computer science was right for me. I joined a community college with a criminal justice major and have since gotten a 4.0 gpa at said college. I have resolved my personal issues and found out what I want to pursue, which is criminal justice. My issue now is that I initially planned to TAG UCI with their criminology program but because I was academically dismissed from UCSD, that is most likely not possible. Furthermore, if I were to reapply for readmission at UCSD, I would not be able to study criminal justice, only a somewhat similar major like sociology or psychology. I feel like I would fall back into the same situation as a year ago. Is my only option to try to apply for readmission at UCSD and while I am there, improve my GPA and try to transfer to UCI? Is there no way to directly transfer to UCI in my current situation? Thank you for any and all replies!
I think you would be in a transfer forum. There is a UC transfer forum on CC. You get better answers to your question.
Your dismissal from UCSD probably will exclude you from TAG - You need to earn most of your units from a CA CC and you need to be in ‘good standing’ with your prior schools.
You can apply outside of TAG but, you’ll need to compete based on your cumulative GPA. Not sure where your stand on that front. Perhaps UCR or a CSU is a more realistic target.
Your path of least resistance is probably getting back into UCSD. Do you have specific career goal? Will a major they offer get you where you want to be?
