My D will turn 18 in a couple of months. Are there any local bakeries you'd recommend I could arrange for a birthday cake to be sent to her at her dorm? Or other suggestions?
Thanks

Call Prantls and ask if they deliver. I don’t know if they do, but they make amazing pastries and are easily one of the most famous bakeries in the city.

I ordered a cake through CMU dining services and surprisingly I was told it was very good. They deliver the cake, paper plates, plastic forks, plastic cake knife, candles and I think soda and cups. It was a few years back. I had it delivered (or maybe they had to pick it up, I can’t remember) to a friend so that they could make it more of a surprise. I don’t remember how much it cost but I thought it was well worth it.

I ordered a cake for my daughter through the bookstore. They used to have a page for it but this is the closest they have now.

My daughter said the cake was from Giant Eagle and was OK.
I have also ordered her cookie cakes from Mrs. Fields. She liked those a lot too although in the hot weather the icing would not always hold up (they had to go through the mail center) so I started ordering smaller cookie/brownie packages that were not so delicate.

This isn’t exactly what you’re asking for, but I imagine your daughter would appreciate a batch of home-made cookies a lot more than a store-delivered cake. She’ll probably wind up doing things with her friends on her birthday, so she might not even be around when the cake is delivered. Mom-made chocolate chip cookies (or whatever her favorite is) are always welcome.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
