Suggestions for Safety LACs?

I'm totally in love with LACs, but I have a feeling that most my apps are match/reaches (Haverford, Middlebury, Hamilton, Colgate, Wesleyan)

For someone applying to those schools, what are some good safeties? So far SUNY Geneseo is one of my safeties with a liberl arts atmoshpere.

I don't know what you're looking for in terms of majors or atmophere, but you can check out Connecticut College and Dickinson.

If you are only looking in the Northeast you might consider Ursinus as well. If you are open to the mid-west there are a ton of LACs that are somewhat less selective than those you mention. The book Colleges that Change Lives is a good starting point in finding great LACs that are not super selective but do provide a great college experience.

Looking to major in Chemistry and Minor in Music

And yes, northeast would be ideal.

It's not in the Northeast, but Lawrence University has a great music program (conservatory) as well as being a strong LAC that is one of Pope's Colleges that Change Lives.

Juniata College in PA
Hobart William Smith College in Geneva, NY
St. Lawrence U in Canton, NY
Skidmore, NY

Beloit, St. Olaf, Knox, Hope, Kalamazoo, Earlham

Take a look at Holy Cross, Trinity in Hartford, and Colby

what are your stats like?

See my chances thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=263639

Because you're a guy, that gives you an advantage when applying to LACs. Many LACS are 61 percent female and 39 percent male. Check out the stats for each school and see where your advantage is strongest. (Geneseo, for instance.) If you look at the U.S. News and World Report rankings, LACs at the 20th ranking and below would be good bets for you. If you have a 92 average, that translates into about a 3.7, which is pretty good coming from a competitive school like Bronx Science.

Also keep in mind, though, that because LACs are smaller, they take fewer kids. That's why the best safeties are still the giant state schools.

Just my two cents!

less selective than the schools you listed (but not necessarily safties):

connecticut college, trinity, bates, colby, hamilton, bucknell, holy cross
skidmore, union, dickinson, bucknell, lafayette, wheaton (ma), muhlenberg

really depends what you're looking for in a school though- they can be quite different from one another!

Holy Cross and Bucknell are very similar to Colgate but easier to get into.

kalamazoo, colby, and bates are definitely not safeties
