Suggestions for some small colleges/universities?

I'm looking for some suggestions from fellow CC'ers for colleges for my list. I am interested in places that:

have <5,000ish undergrads

don't require you to apply to a specific major

have variety of good study abroad programs

are strong in the natural sciences

are either private liberal arts colleges or small(ish) universities

Ones that are currently on my list are:

U of Chicago (not an LAC, I know, but pretty small undergrad population)
Dartmouth
Middlebury
Bates (not sure about study abroad?)
St. Olaf

Does anyone have suggestions for more places like this? I don't have a geographic region in mind so places from anywhere are fine :)

Amherst, Pomona, Williams…maybe

Colgate, Hamilton

Davidson, Haverford, William & Mary come to mind.

I was going to mention haverford and william and mary as well…I don’t know about all the schools on your list, but they are relatively similar to Dartmouth and Middlebury in terms of your key criteria. I don’t know how williams is fr study abroad, but they seem like a school you’d like as well, just based on your list

Rice, Davidson, any school in the Claremont consortium

St. Mary’s College of Maryland. It’s Maryland’s honors college.

Look at Goucher College in Maryland. It offers over 40 study abroad programs.

Carleton, I would think, fits your bill.

Holy Cross, Bowdoin. HC is need blind for financial aid and both are SAT optional. Holy Cross just completed a $70 million science building.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I’ve got some research to do now… I’m still open to more suggestions if anyone has any though :)

Look at Oberlin, Grinnell, Carleton and Maclester-strong midwestern LACs. I’m partial to Grinnell because of their outstanding sciences, fantastic facilities, amazing mentoring by faculty, exceptionally small class sizes, merit aid, and lack of distribution requirements. But it’s also rural, so you have to be happy with the culture.

At Kalamazoo, 85% of students do a study abroad, and it is in the top dozen or so for the rate of students going on for Ph.D.s in the natural sciences.
