Do you guys have those days where you don't feel like doing anything? I mean, I know I have loads to do and I know I should do it all and I tell myself to but once I start, I tend to just sit there and stare off into space. I can't focus at all! Say that I'm reading Biology. None of the biology enters my head so I say "oh I'll work on something else" and I go work on Chemistry. But nothing enters my head. Then I'll move on to something else, but same thing happens.

What do you guys do when that happens? Take breaks? But what if I've taken a break and it still happens? Then what?

hun.. im a senior YES thats the story of my year

Yeah. That's me down to a T.

I have no trouble doing conventional math, but unless I'm feeling motivated, I go through hell trying to get myself to get my work done.

"What do you guys do when that happens?"

Well, I'm a senior, so... nothing.

I'll usually go for a run and take a shower or something. That makes me feel more comfortable (well obviously not after running, but Ill take a shower after a run), and then I settle more easily into what I was doing before.

I wouldn't recommend doing something that can have no end...like video games or tv. Its taken me a while to figure out that one hah. At some point, ya stop running, or stop showering. So find something that can easily be stopped, and can take you away from intense concentration for a bit.

blah...i've basically vegged all 5-day weekend (after midterms, so not terrible) but still I feel the same way. I try to say, "I'm going to watch xyz show/read xyz book for an hour, then I'll study 1 hour". Then I guilt myself up about not fulfilling the deal :)

Whenever that happens to me I just go out and get some fresh air. I take a walk and listen to some music.
Once I feel more up to it. I'll study.

Ask someone else to tie you to your desk, then tell her to come 2 hours later, it really works, hahahaha.

That happens to me all the time.

Usually I relax for a bit, get some air, and if I still don't feel like studying I'll imagine myself as a homeless bum. Or I'll imagine that it's April 1st and I'm getting nothing but rejection letters.

It's a bit of a scare tactic and rather unrealistic, but it sometimes makes me buckle down. xD

i agree w/ christalena. just go outside and exercise or do something non-intellectual...like take a nap

Yeah. If you're going to procrastinate, then do it effectively. Read a book that isn't required reading or watch tv or exercise.
